Searching for a stranger chat site usually means you want to talk to someone new without getting hurt. This page compares four sites on what each one states on its own pages. Where a site's pages say nothing, the table says "not stated" instead of guessing.

How to use this with the checklist

Our random chat safety guide covers the warning signs to watch for in any chat, such as requests for money, pressure to move to another app, and sharing personal details. Use that guide alongside the table above.

Why text-only is a sensible default

Video gives a stranger a live view of you and your surroundings. Text removes that exposure, but not the risk of scams or pressure. For text-only options and how they compare to Omegle, read text-only Omegle alternatives.

What Olu does, in plain terms

Olu is a text chat app for adults (18 and older) who want to talk with people in other countries. It is free and has no ads. One tap matches you 1-on-1 with someone in another country who is online. If nobody is free, you can chat with an AI, which is always labelled as AI. Every message is translated both ways, and the original stays visible. You can report or block anyone from inside a chat. If you want to see it for yourself, start a chat. Phone numbers, social handles and other contact details are stopped before they reach the other person. Read the safety rules before your first chat.

If a chat makes you uncomfortable, end it, block the person, and report them. That applies on every site, including ours.

Questions people ask

+Which of these sites say how they check age?

None of the three other sites describes an age verification method. Ome.gg says underage users are removed when discovered, and its terms say users declare their own age. TalkWithStranger's pages conflict: the homepage says open to chat for all ages, while its FAQ says over 18 with parental permission. OpenTalk says it is designed for users 18 and older, with no check described. Olu's terms say 18 or older. It asks for your birth year when you join and refuses anyone younger; there is no ID check.

+Which sites let you report and block inside the chat?

Ome.gg offers skip, block and report, and sends reports to a moderation queue. TalkWithStranger's homepage offers one-click report and block. OpenTalk's homepage offers a one-tap report and does not mention blocking. Olu offers report and block from inside a chat.

+What happens to my messages on Olu?

Messages and their translations are kept, including messages our filters stop, which are marked as blocked because they may be needed for a safety decision. The full list is on our privacy page. The other sites differ: Ome.gg says random chats disappear when the chat ends, and its terms say it keeps data only as long as necessary and keeps public room messages as room history, with no retention period given. TalkWithStranger's FAQ says it normally does not save chat logs but may store them from time to time. The OpenTalk pages we checked do not state how long text messages are kept.

+Is text-only chat safer than video?

Text removes live camera exposure. It does not remove scams, pressure, or requests for personal details, so the same rules apply to both.
