If you have tried to open OluOlu and nothing loads, here is the short answer: OluOlu closed for good in mid-May 2026. It is not down for maintenance, and the app will not come back with your account.

Olu (oluchat.com) is not OluOlu, and it is not the "Olu app" that closed with it. We are an independent chat app with no connection to OluOlu, Project Z or the company behind them, and your OluOlu account does not exist here. We wrote this page because people who used OluOlu keep asking what happened to it.

When OluOlu closed

The website oluolu.com now shows a page titled "This Webpage is Closed". It says that OluOlu.com and the Olu app are permanently closed, that all services have been discontinued, and thanks everyone who supported the app.

Archived copies of the site give the date. User profiles were still online on 14 May 2026, and the closing notice was in place by 16 May 2026. So the app went dark around 15 May 2026. Spanish-speaking users posted videos from its last hours, which shows how big its Latin American community was.

What OluOlu was

OluOlu grew out of Project Z, a social app from a Singapore developer (Supersymmetry Pte. Ltd.). Its Android package name still started with com.projz, a leftover from those days.

  • Project Z was about communities: interest groups called Circles, group roleplay with up to 100 people, and avatars you designed yourself.
  • OluOlu kept the people but changed the product. Its store listing described a place for creators and fans, with fan clubs and exclusive content, and some listings pitched it as a dating app.

Not everyone liked the change. Reviews complained that roleplay mode and the communities had been removed and that the app felt empty without them. The closing notice doesn't say whether that played a part.

Can I recover my account or chats?

Probably not. The notice says all services were discontinued and offers no export, so profiles, messages and fan club posts went offline with the servers. If you kept in touch with someone outside the app (on Discord, Instagram or WhatsApp), that is the only link left.

Be careful with anything claiming to "restore" OluOlu or offering a modded download of the old app. With the servers gone, the app cannot work, and unofficial downloads are a common way to get a phone infected.

Where OluOlu users went

It depends on what you used OluOlu for.

  • Roleplay and fandom communities: Discord servers are the closest thing to Project Z's Circles. You join a server for your fandom or roleplay style, and each server sets its own rules.
  • Chatting with people from other countries: Olu matches you one-to-one with someone in another country, by text, and translates messages if you don't share a language. It is free, has no ads and is for adults (18+). AI chat partners are always labelled as AI.
  • Following creators: most creators who had fan clubs on OluOlu also post on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube. Search for their usual handle.

Wherever you go, the same habits keep you safe: keep chats inside the app at first, never send money, and leave any chat that feels wrong. Our chat safety tips cover the rest.

Questions people ask

+What happened to OluOlu?

OluOlu closed permanently in mid-May 2026. Its website was replaced by a notice saying that OluOlu.com and the Olu app are permanently closed and all services have been discontinued. Archived copies show profiles still online on 14 May 2026 and the closing notice in place by 16 May.

+Why did OluOlu close?

The closing notice gives no reason, and we found no public statement explaining it. It only thanks the people who supported the app.

+Can I get my OluOlu account, chats or photos back?

Not that we know of. The notice says all services were discontinued and mentions no data export, so accounts, chats and fan club content went offline with the app.

+Is Olu (oluchat.com) the same as OluOlu or the old Olu app?

No. Olu at oluchat.com is a separate, independent chat app with no link to OluOlu, Project Z or their developer. The names are only similar, and your OluOlu account does not exist here.
